CAPTAIN JAMES W. WHITE, CIVIL WAR VETERAN, DEAD

OAKLAND,MARYLAND -- Oct, 21-- Captain James W. White, Age 83 years and 9 months, died at his home near the White church last Saturday and was buried in the family cemetery, Monday morning at 11 o'clock. 

Captain White was Commissioned during the Civil War as captain of a company of cavalry attached to the Second Maryland Regiment, U.S. Army, His record as a soldier was one of valor. He Was engaged with his command in a number of the hardest fought battles of the war.

He was born in a farm near White church where he continued to reside his entire lifetime with the exception of the years he was in the army. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church and as such was consistent with its teachings in every way. 

He was thrice married and is survived by his widow ;by four daughters: Mrs. John Wilson, of near Gorman: Mrs. King, of near Mountain Lake Park; Mrs Florence Fazenbaker, of Swanton, and Mrs. Jonas Gainer, of West Virginia, and by one son, Nr.R. White of Gordens,Cal., and a large number of grandchildren and greatgrandchildren besides one greatgeatgrandson. 

the funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Thomas Hardesty, of the the White Church.
