A funeral service for Marie Langvardt, 80, rural Chapman, will be conducted 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church in Junction City by the Rev. Dr. Ted A. Lester. Mrs. Langvardt died Wednesday, July 4, at her home.
She was born Oct. 3, 1909 near Chapman, to Ernest Earl and Katherine Marie Blair Norman. She attended rural school and was a graduate of Dickinson County Community High School.

On Sept. 19, 1933, she married LaVern R. Langvardt in Hutchinson. They lived and farmed near Wakefield a number of years before moving into Junction City in 1949. In 1961 they moved to their present home west of Junction City.
She worked with her husband and son in the operation of the J.C. Livestock Sales, as corporate secretary for more than 20 years, until 1986.

Mrs. Langvardt was a member of the First Presbyterian Church; she was active as a 4-H leader in the Alida community; and had been a long-time member of the Alida EHU before it was disbanded.
Survivors include her husband LaVern of the home; one daughter Audrey Marie Riat, St. Marys; one son, Howard Langvardt, rural Chapman; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother Ernest Leroy Norman on March 28, 1980.

The family will meet with friends from 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Johnson Funeral Chapel where friends may call anytime that day. Burial will be in the Good Hope Cemetery, west of Junction City.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church in the name of Marie Langvardt.
