William Thornton Park was one of eight children born to Francis Marion Park and Margaret Elizabeth Crane. He was born in a sod house on the Kansas prairie soon after the family had moved from Illinois to the Kansas frontier. His early years were challenging as the family worked to establish a farm in White Cloud, Doniphan County, Kansas.
William was married twice. His first wife, Nora, died after only eight years of marriage. No live children were born to this union. William married his second wife, Hazel, five years after Nora's death. No known children were born to this union.
