ELISHA AND HESTER ANN WILSON HARVEYELISHA HARVEY, son of Rezin and Elizabeth Queen Harvey, was born March 21, 1809, near Elk Garden in what was then Hampshire County, Virginia, now Mineral County, West Virginia, and died at his home in the Bethlehem community, Garrett County, Maryland, Dec., 28, 1877. He married Nov., 29, 1832, Hester Ann Wilson, daughter of Thomas III and Susan Bowman Wilson. He was one of four sons of Rezin and Elizabeth Queen Harvey to marry daughters of Thomas III and Susan Bowman Wilson. He and Hester Ann eloped along with his brother Noah and Hester's sister Sarah to Cumberland, Md., for a double ceremony. Hester Ann Wilson was born Feb., 26, 1813, and died March 12, 1893. After their marriage they lived in Hampshire County, Virginia, now Mineral County, W. Va. Elisha was listed as head of a family of four in the 1840 Federal census for Hampshire County. Some time between 1840 and 1850 Elisha and Hester Ann purchased land and moved to Allegany County, now Garrett County, Maryland. On June 4, 1841, Elisha Harvey purchased from William E. and Elizabeth Wilson Harvey, Military Lots No. 368, 421 and 424 for $300. Here they spent the remainder of their lives and reared their large family.1 Both were buried in the family cemetery on the Elisha Harvey farm. On the Elisha Harvey grave marker, in addition to the date of birth and death, is engraved "He was a loving father, a friend to this neighbor and an example of piety." On Hester Ann Wilson Harvey's grave marker is engraved "She was a loving mother and in time of trouble and adversity she leaned upon her God.''
