Notes for Louis Raymond “Raymond” (Spouse 1)
'Raymond' as he was called by his wife, and Vivian ran restaurants in Lawrence and Eudora KS for about 10 years. He always had an interesting way to make money. He sold cotton candy, silver polish (which he made from clay from the creek) at fairs. He once owned a circus, sold vacuum cleaners, etc. After they moved to Peoria, IL, he went into the building business and built homes with his father Newton Graham on the bluff in Peoria. The quality of the houses he built was questionable, but most of them are still standing 60 years later! He made a lot of money following the depression, and retired at the age of 50. 'LR' and 'Marmee' as they were called by their grandchildren spent many years roaming in Florida and other places with their trailer. In later years, they lived in a small house on N. Missouri in Peoria.
