Notes for Anna Belle Tuttle
Anna Belle is actually the daughter of Mary Louisa Moore Tuttle Willis and Thomas Moore. Her biological father, Sgt William Henry Harrison Tuttle died when she was not yet 2 years old and her mother remarried to a Mr. Lorenzo Willis. Because she was the step daughter of Mr. Willis from such an early age, she may have used his surname until she was older or until she married Mr. Davis. This has created some confusion but Anne Belle Tuttle was never Anna Belle Willis. There are thus 2 memorials for Anna Belle Tuttle Davis who was only the step daughter of Mr. Lorenzo Willis.
------
Anna Belle Tuttle Davis was born near Vinland, just north of Baldwin City. She died leaving a 2 week old child behind. Her parents are Wm. H.H. Tuttle and Mary Moore. Her husband was Christopher P. "Kit" Davis.
Anna Belle (Tuttle) Davis is also shown in memorial #29656486 as Anna Belle Willis, but Willis is her mother's surname from a 2nd marriage. So Anna Belle's surname was never Willis. The confusion comes from her inscription on the back of the tombstone for her mother Mary Willis 29656468 and step-father Lorenzo N. Willis 29656454.
A second inscription for her is on the back of the tombstone for Nettie (Ford) Davis memorial #29656383. Both Anna Belle and Nettie were married to Christopher P. Davis memorial #89526929, Nettie being his second wife.
