Notes for Almond Willey
Almond Willey was in Canada when the War of 1812 broke out and being a great patriot refused to fight against his country but was pressed into service. He escaped and crossed Lake Erie in a canoe being two days adn two nights on the water. He had a knowledge of French and other languages. He moved to Indiana about 1812. About 1816 he moved to Louisana after losing the race for Governor of Indiana.
