Homer M. Taylor, 76, Hiawatha, Kans., died at his home Sunday afternoon, February 4, 1979.
 
He was born January 24, 1903 in White Cloud, the son of Edward and Stella Park Taylor, and had been a farmer in Brown County all of his life before retiring to Hiawatha in 1974.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hiawatha, the IOOF Lodge and the Rebekah Lodge, both of Hiawatha.

He was married to Hannah Walters, December 27, 1925 in Hiawatha, she survives at the home.

Other survivors include two brothers, Asa Taylor, White Cloud, and Dana Taylor, Fresno, Calif.; three sisters, Mrs. Frank (Edna) Lieffring, and Mrs. George (Lola) Turner, both of Hiawatha, and Mrs. Charles (Eula) Lee, Redding, Calif.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 7, at two o'clock from the Meek Mortuary Chapel, with the Rev. Ralph Herrick officiating. Interment will be at the Hiawatha Cemetery.

Hannah Mary Taylor, 97, of Hiawatha, died on Wednesday, May 15, 1996 at a Hiawatha, Kansas nursing home where she had resided for a number of years.

She was born December 1, 1898, the daughter of John W. and Martha Griffith Walters. She was born and raised in the Bethel Neighborhood community, northeast of Hiawatha. Following completion of her high school education, she taught in country schools.

She was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church until it closed. She then joined the Hiawatha First Baptist Church where she served as church treasurer, Deaconess and Sunday School teacher. She joined the Rebecca Lodge and enjoyed the friendships there.

She was married to Homer M. Taylor of White Cloud, Kansas on December 27, 1925 at the home of her parents. They farmed in northeast Brown County before retiring and moving into Hiawatha.

Mrs. Taylor was preceded in death by her husband on February 4, 1979, and one son, Harold Keith Taylor, who died in infancy.

Surviving Mrs. Taylor is one foster daughter, Elsie May Walters Bailey and her husband, Charles G. Bailey of Richardson, Texas; two foster grandsons, Kevin G. Bailey of Dallas, Texas and Brian C. Bailey of Los Angeles, California; one sister, Olwen Dannenberg of Hiawatha; and one brother, Wesley Walters, of St. Paul, Minnesota.

The funeral service for Hannah Taylor will be Saturday, May 18, 1996 at 2:00 p.m. at Schroeder's Brown County Mortuary. Interment will be in the Hiawatha Cemetery. Visitation will be anytime during normal business hours at the mortuary.

The family suggests that memorials be designated to the Gideon's and sent in care of the mortuary.
